Yep it's been discussed, investigated and discarded. The material when used in a vertical configuration, does not have the structural integrity required for boat stringers. And, in addition, resin does not adhere to it.

If you're looking for a boat building material that won't rot, take a look at CCA pressure treated plywood:

3/4" Marine Treated Decking

A marine grade plywood that won't rot, how cool is that?

Welcome aboard.

most of the composite decking material is HDPE, and not much adheres to it, and it will not support a load for very long before it deforms

It makes a marginal decking material, a great skid material for ice shanties, a great surface for cleaning fish, and a poor structural anything material.

What are we trying to repair? we assume stringers by the question, however type of boat, ect.?

NO strength in trex at all. This would be a very poor choice for anything structural in a boat or anywhere else. It is only good for decks...and if you look up all the class action law suites against it, it's even marginal for that.
