Hi all,

I am currently in the process of rebuilding a 1961 Arkansas Traveler equipped with a 1964 Johnson 40 Hp outboard motor. I spent the winter working now and then on the motor and yesterday finally got it to the point to start it up. It started and seemed to run pretty good the short time i had it going. I think i have water pump problems, so i shut it down and am awaiting a new water pump to arrive.

I am stripping the boat and getting ready to seal the inside and do some fiberglass work. I am looking for a windshield, does anyone have any suggestions? Is it possible to make my own from plexiglass?

I hope to add some pictures soon showing our progress!

Here is the boat and motor when it was giving to us!

John

Re: 1961 Arkansas Traveler DUT-14G Rebuild

HI John. Welcome to iboats. Great to have another AT owner here in the forums. I have a '59 Aluminum, DUT-14 runabout that I've converted to a flats skiff of sorts. Finding a replacement windshield for these old boats is always tricky. While you could probably make, or have one made, it may be cheaper/easier to try to salvage one off of a boat of similar vintage and dimension even if the brand is different. Here are some handy links to read over in the meantime.
