ok so the fibreglass boat with bad transom is well on it way apart

i have transom pretty well stripped

and have found the stringers to be wet and not nice I have removed them up to the fuel tank and have not lifted any more floor or anything (I really dont want to ) anyway what I took out was 3 pieces of plywood laminated together
I took them from transom to what I think was a bulkhead area the pieces on both sides came out the the same same end area

what are the suggestions on replacing this section of stringer how do I bond to the remaining wood and do I need to remove all the foam from this area

what kind of foam do I put back

If the wood is wet, the foam is too. Take it out.
"Closed cell" foam is what you are looking for. It wont trap water like open cell does. If I remember right, the pink (maybe blue) stuff at a home improvement store is closed cell and will serve the same purpose as the original did.
