I'm semi restoring a 61 alumacraft queen Merrie 18'. At the moment I'm getting my foam and cedar floor in but I really need to find an outboard. It's rated for up to 90 HP. It's a fairly light boat. Specs I found on line were 650 lbs for dry weight. It would probably only ever have 2 adults (500 lbs) and maybe occasionally a 55 lb dog. I figure 12 gallons of fuel at most. No skiing probably no tubing. Mostly just cruising and about 60% trolling at 1-3 mph. I've seen several older boats with 40-50 HP outboards so would a 50 HP suit my needs? Actually my preferred powering would be twin 40's but it's kinda hard to find a good matching set of outboards in my parts. I'd definitely be going pre 80's with the outboard though.
