Transom through-hole wood sealer

I'm in process of re-installing hardware back in the old holes and am lightly sanding the holes where said hardware is to be re-installed, Is there a preferred wood sealer that should be applied to the face of the freshly sanded wood? Of course this would be before I installed the hardware with some 5200.

I'd use some 5min epoxy.
