I acquired this boat from my father recently after sitting for over 5 years. Unfortunately it has set uncovered this whole time so I started inspecting it. The floor was soft so I started tearing it out. Underneath was a bunch of rot but luckily the hull seems in good shape. It looks like i will be replacing all the stringers and most of the other wood inside the boat. I understand most would not tackle this on an old bass boat, but it was my father and I's first boat together. I would hate to see it be destroyed. I will be posting quite often with lots of pictures. If I look like I am going in the wrong direction with something, please tell me. I am great with cars, but boats are a first for me. This boat is equipped with a Johnson 70 hp motor.

So far I have removed the bumper strip and all of the screws. I've pulled the fuel tank, live well hoses, batteries, and most electrical that was in the way. I have a couple guys coming over this weekend to help remove the boat motor and hopefully then start separating the cap. I've already got the front of the boat loose from the hull.

Also if anyone knows where I could find an owner's manual for this boat, I would love to have one.

Welcome to iBoats!

Unfortunately boats are not like cars. They don't come with Manuals. Is there some specific information you're looking for? This forum has some of the most knowledgeable boat people in the world so ask away. I bet you'll get the answers you're looking for.

Thanks guys. As far as a manual goes I just wanted to have some kind of original information on this boat.

Thanks for the info. I wish this company was still around. These boats seemed like they were made with high quality back then.

Well yesterday we got the engine off and the cap pulled off. Man that was quite a job in itself. Found out that the transom is rotten too so I will be replacing that as well. As promised here are some pictures of the progress. In the one, the hull looks real dark like its rotted out but it's just from being in the shade. That's about the only thing that is dry. Also I'm going to start ordering supplies. Does anyone know where I can purchase PB? I will try to update this again tonight before heading to bed. Have a great day everybody.

Well I was able to get the transom out and most of the stringers. It's starting to come along, slowly. Hopefully I will be able to find some marine grade plywood this work and at least start getting the transom mocked up.

Wow, you're really flying!!! You make your own PB. Poly resin thickened with Cabosil and Chopped Milled Fibers. You don't HAVE to use Marine Plywood. The Aruaco Brand of Ext. Grade plywood is really good stuff and once encapsulated in Poly resin and glass will last longer than you will have the boat. Where are you located?

Thanks for the info. I'm up in northern indiana. Luckily this was the first nice weekend we've had so I was able to get a lot done.

I picked up a full respirator before starting this project. I felt that it would be a good investment since it's little money compared to lung problems.
