Looking to save some cash and do my own bottom paint. Anyone know where to get one of those big foam sanding blocks in the 80/100 grit? I can't find them anywhere. The paint is in decent shape so I'll be able to do it quick and by hand. And I'll be rolling the paint on....what roller should I use, rough wall or smooth? Hope this is an easy one. Thanks!

What you want to use is a block that holds sandpaper, not a granular block like for drywall...you will go thru a bunch of paper....

Embee Sanding Block 40

If you want something longer, you can use something like this .

Rubber Sanding Block 05520, 3" x 8" at National Tool Warehouse

Then theres the auto body fairing blocks in many sizes...but for a boat bottom, especially if its for anti fouling paint, the smaller ones are fine.
Dura-Block AF4409 Black Long Sanding Block

That's what I figured, thanks. Some if the other captains just use the small block if the bottom paint is in decent shape...makes for
A quicker job

Also, if it anti-fouling paint, the paint that comes of is really hazardous, so wear a good mask and take the necessary precautions.

Highly toxic, that anti-fouling paint . . . otherwise, it would not be anti-fouling :D

A good respirator style mask would be the thing to have.
