That cracks me up and yes a hopper is a crapper, johnny crapper, water closet, a shi**er. Man I was looking at that pic and trying to tell myself from the size of that boat how the heck can you get a regular crapper in place. My next question was to ask you to send me a pic. I got you now. I mis read but just finished reading your whole thread. Good progress.

Haha! Yes I had to take some time off for land lord duties. It's hard to go boating in good conscious when someone has a loose "crapper" ;)

Some more progress. Got my new epoxy coated tank foamed in. Deck "nailers" or "cleats" encapsulated in CSM and 2nd deck completely encapsulated and in. These deck pieces were a little tricky getting in.

Thinking about rolling the decks in Gelcoat. Any suggestions?

Looks like I'm getting a new Suzuki DF250 outboard for her, so I'm pretty stoked about that!

Looking real good! I rolled gelcoat on my decks and I'm very pleased with how it came out.

Thanks Mike. Any suggestions/preferences for rollers? (lint free)

Oh perfect Mike...I have those. Thank you.

The last piece of decking...I don't know why I haven't figured this out until now. PVC pipe cut into clamps....

I am counting over 90 clamps there. I think you have Nurseman beat on the clamp count.

LOL, the kids are already running around the house with them clamped on as earrings.

Very cool idea on using pvc pipe for the clamps. I now know how to compete in the "Clamp Wars!":D

Did you find that the clamps left "starved" areas under them? Or was the pressure light enough for it not to be an issue?

Oh you guys have me beat coming and going! Nurseman, "real" C-clamps far outweigh used PVC drain pipe. I just checked out your thread...fun build! I think people have yards smaller than your layup:lol:. Also, I refuse to grind anything more than 1 mm past the tabbing I install on my hull :)

They (fit tight) leave tiny dry spots that I will touch up later, but I did resin coat the wood first. I used to use duct tape around corners after the resin starts kicking, and that worked pretty well actually. This ISO resin is a lot harder to work with than the Ortho surfboard resin I used on the Sport craft. I really believe that the strength differences are minimal according to the spec sheets.

Correction: took the clamps off this morning...no resin starved spots.

Got the third "prewrapped" deck piece down. In the forefront is the top of the new transom which shows how square everything is coming out. I'll have to say, as far as manufacturer workmanship goes, Steiger has done a really great job in my opinion of boat building post 1990.

Another view. One more 16" section. The last section of decking usually takes the most moisture and abuse. I've been wrapping it and sealing it extra good.

Next will be grinding, filleting, tabbing, and gel coating the deck and transom.

Trying to get the pilot house completely finished first so I can de-rig the boat. I'm going to move all of the batteries in here to get ready for the heavier 4 stroke motor.

The one piece deck is encapsulated in 1708 on the top and sides and 1.5 CSM on the bottom with a beveled front edge that slipped under the forward cabin wall. Added a hatch to access a HUGE compartment below that never had access before. I used cabosil and filleted the sides and rear pilot house wall. The cabosil alone secured the rear pilot house wall nicely. Tabbed the sides of the deck up the hull with a layer of 1708 and then 1.5 CSM over that. Tabbed the rear of the pilot house wall with 1708 only. Hoping this will be enough. Gonna clean her up next and then gel coat.
