You should get some MORE aluminum welded in to rebuild that chine........ right now it looks like a weak point.

I've seen wild turkey poop that looked better than that!

If I bought it I'd reinforce that area with a riveted patch.

Comment.......That's been welded?

1. No metal prep....didnt even take the paint off!
2. Should have a reinforcement plate on the outside....Or inside if you can get to it.
3. Didnt clean up the end result....dress the weld up
4. Could have repainted the outside.

Poorly done in my book!

Appears the patch was inside.

My concern if if the weld would crack hitting the waves

Yes need to repair the chine

Any goop that could be used to smooth out the external surface?

Yes the "goop" needs to be welded on aluminum and a re-build of that chine with aluminum. Properly repaired, ground out to a smooth matching surface, then primed and painted. Do not try to fill and re-build that chine with anything but metal.

If that spot opens up on a wave the way it is nor ....... I am afraid the hull will tear open as easy as tearing a cardboard cereal box.
