Hi Folks,
I'm new to this foruma and am looking forward to looking at all of the historical informative posts. I have a quick question, just bought my first boat (1987 Cobia 189, open bow), and it will need some work over the fall. I noticed that the drivers seat (back to back lounge seats) base is starting to deteriorate. I have not torn it apart yet, but it looks to be made of wood that is rotting. They currently have carpet on the base that matches the deck carpeting. Can I rebuild them by hand using pressure treated lumber and then just reattach the carpeting, or will this be more complicated? Thanks in advance.

keith

Re: Replacing seat base

For Back to back loungers it is easier and fairly inexpensive to just replace the base and seat with a new one. If you use Pressure treated lumber make sure it is marine grade and epoxy seal it before putting carpet over it.

Re: Replacing seat base

Should I just make them the same size as the original with brackets on the inside to hold them together??
