Ah nothing like the smell of 2 stroke oil being burned by a ToP! Glad you guys had some fun with her!

Not sewing but I'm sure everyone was in stitches riding around in that beautiful boat. :)

Incredible build! Really like what you did to bring this sweet boat out of the weeds to once again sit pretty on top of the waves!!

Nice vid to compliment as well!!

HAHA....yes on the rusto!! If its good enough for tractors, good enough for this old truck! There has been several of the the GT's show up recently.... I wonder how many of them are actually still around. Im working on a basket case crown line deal, we'll see if it pans out.

Well, Im beginning to believe the saying " your never really done..." I still have some outstanding details to take care of. At this point, I am not fortunate to have an inside spot for her to lay up over the winters. So one of the biggest things for this winter is to make a custom cover for Nauti-Thoughts.

For a reference, I am referring to Sailrites video: It is very informative and a good step by step. I am modifying a couple things, but an excellent basis.

http://www.sailrite.com/How-to-Make-a-Power-Boat-Cover-Video

Material list so far:

- 20 quick release buckles and triglides
- 15 yds Royal Blue Cordura 1000D outdoor fabric (Similar to sunbrella, but thicker and more durable in my opinion) They make it in 500D, which is less $$$ but I wanted the higher rub resistance
- V92 bonded thread
- 2 sew in boat vents
- 2 support poles w/vent
- 50 ft spool of royal blue shock cord
- 50 yds 1 " black nylon webbing

I measured for material per the video. Cut and stitched the flat felled seams like they show... but I screwed up and stitched the folds in the wrong direction. (Water with dam at the seams) but not enough that Im concerned.

I also made the skirt with the webbing and shock cord installed. I left one end incomplete, in case I have to add to it.

Here is the beginning of the fitment:

Just prior to the last Pix, I put masking tape and then "supervisor tape" ( 2 faced) tape all the way around the rub rail and where I wanted it to transition over and around the ToP.

Spent about an hour and a half stretching and pulling the cover to where I was satisfied with its fitment.

Here I started marking rub spots and making the darts....

Some more pix....

A pole support will go just forward of the windscreen in the center...

Thats it for now...cover has been peeled back off to stitch up the darts and install the abrasion pads where needed.

Have a good night rest of your night!! Time for a beverage and some football!!

Looks good!! I have an older canvas cover for my boat. It's not made for the boat but close enough. Can't wait to see how you make this go together!

Very nice ! I'm interested in how you do the darts .. I see you basically clamped the extra material then marked the stitch line . It gets cut then stitched from the back side ? I guess I need to watch the video ... I really need to make a cover for the MFG . Just need some extra time . LOL !
