hello guys,

I have a 1989 Wellcraft 170 Classic I/O boat. I found a teak swim platform in pretty rough shape appearance wise, but it is structurally sound. It also includes the bracketry to mount the platform. I have restored bad teak before so this will not be a problem.

My only concern is with drilling into the transom and potentailly weakening the boat. The transom is in good shape right now. Boat was stored out of water its whole life and does not shows signs of rot from the evaluation I had done. I am curious to know if anyone has sucessfully added a teak swim platform to thier boat and any obstacles they had to tackle or warnings to heed.

It seems like it should be fine if you drill straight and seal it up the holes with 3M 5200 but I am just curious to know if these transoms are robust enough to be able to handle the added weight.
