Hey all, I decided to make a thread over here to show everyone my restoration progress of my 88 Seebold I bought this summer. I bought it knowing the floor was soft and figured a floor wouldnt be too bad to do. The engine compartment had been rebuilt at some point and everything sounded really really solid so I bought her and enjoyed her for half the summer. It ran great, had a 454 and a Bravo and was a great deal for the size of the boat. After I took her out of the water for the winter I ripped the interior out and pulled up the floor. Well, a floor turned into a floor and cabin stringers, then I pulled the tank out and it turned into a floor, cabin stringers and engine bulkhead. Then i cut the bulkhead out and found rot in the engine stringers. Then I pulled the engine stringers out and found the transom was wet. So yea, if your floor is wet it pretty much means the whole boat is wet/rotted. I really got alot of confidence in doing the build from Friscoboaters Youtube videos haha They have been a great help. I've been following his Glastron build and when he does something I'm doing it the next weekend. Thanks Jay!! Here's some pics of the boat and my progress so far!

I restore classic cars for a living so I love takin stuff apart and refinishing parts back to new. I got this off shore throttle for cheap so I re painted it to match how the dash is gonna be once I re do that.

Wow, that's a sweet boat. There was only one Seebold at the marina I worked at during HS/college (mid 90's), and the fit and finish of it was far superior to any of the other boats there. The only thing that came close to it's quality was a Formula that was kept there. The Wellcrafts, which the marina was a dealer of were nice (90% of what was stored there) - we had lots of Scarabs, a Fountain, a Sonic. We were one of the only dealerships in the country to take delivery of two P-29's. Sonny Bono also kept his boat there when he was a Senator... a 25' Lake Hazasu style, custom bowrider. I don't recall as much about his boat as the floatation devices affixed to his wife/girlfriend's chest.

Thanks! I have really fallen in love with this boat. There's not much info on them but apparently fly with the right power and prop. They cut a lot of corners when building the boats. The cabin stringers weren't tabbed to the bulkheads so water could get in and they didn't have any drains to drain outside of the stringers. Ill build it better than new and will have the peace of mind know I have a "brand new" boat. Gotta order some supplies tomorrow then start glassin!

Finding similar construction errors with the Wellcraft I'm restoring. Like you, all will be corrected.

Sweeeeeet!!!! I love that boat, and I love your garage even more. Talk about being jealous!! It looks like you are moving right along there. I cut out around my Drain hole to fill in with Peanut Butter and that should keep water that sits in teh bottom of the bilge from seeping into the wood from the drain hole.

Nice looking rehab on the throttle, NFS is a great looking boat and good work on the demo.

BTW: what suicide lincoln is that in the background of the finished throttle? Former '66 4dr hardtop owner, I miss that land yacht even though I never drove it under it's own power.

Jay, my boat had a notched transom so the drain hole doesn't go through the wood. The bottom of the transom is 1/2 inch of glass. I lucked out big on the garage. We just expanded our restoration business and thats our new body shop. Check us out @ Web Page Under Construction! Keep the vids comin along Jay! Ill keep you all updated as I go along!

Hey all, been a while since I update anything. I've been water proofing and getting everything ready to go in and this weekend I got a ton done! Got the cabin stringers glue as well as the bulkhead. I bonded the transom in with "peanut butter" and was able to get my filets done last night and came in this morning and tabbed her in and laid down two layers of 1708. I just fabbed my engine stringers and will hopefully have them in and glue next weekend! This thing is comin along alot faster than I thought it would!

Thanks guys! I bit the bullet and my buddy and I whipped up some peanut butter and got the rest of the filets done! I'm gonna coat the stringers with resin this week then plug em in next weekend. Gotta call up US Composites and get 5 more gallons of resin. I'm hoping that almost all of the glass work will be finished up next weekend! Woohoo! There IS a light at the end of the tunnel.

Here's another update on her. We finished up the glasswork last weekend! I went through a total of 20 gallons of resin in this pig. Shes solid as a rock now though. I ordered some new gauges and pretty stuff this week so I can move on to re doing the dash once the engine compartment is painted and the motor is back in. Slowly but surely!

I made a jig to locate the new stringers before I ripped out the old ones. Worked out really well

I got bored for a bit and it looks like I'm gonna be able to buff her back for the season
