is it necessary to use awgrip primer before using awlgrip to re-pint my boats deck.

as of now i have gelcoat rolled over my poly-resined deck
im going to sand down the non-skidded gelcoat first
and then roll on the awlgrip and then non skid certain parts of it

do i need to prime first before the awlgrip?

should be OK without primer on a "sanded" non shiny gelcoat subsurface.

It will be much better to follow the instructions and use the primer when your spending so much time and money

Why are you painting your Gelcoat deck? If it's only to get a nonskid surface, Add another layer of Gelcoat with some nonskid added to the Gelcoat.

i didnt like the gelcoat the first time. its non-skid now completely. i want to repaint it a darker grey color and have partial non-skid on the floor(i also have the lower walls gelcoated with nonskid which i dont like)
