building a deck on a 14' v hull fiberglass

Ok im looking to build a deck on my boat from the front (triangle plywood) to the bench seat in front of the console. Was going to build it out of 1/2 plywood and seal it on both sides and then fiberglass the top. Will it be to heavy for me ? and am I waisting my time?
