I was looking at rebuilding this boat and part of the transom is rotted. It has 2 peices of 3/4 inch plywood next to the outer fiberglass shell. Only the outer layer (closest to the engine) is rotten. The innermost sheet which is against the fiberglass is solid and intact--no Rot. My guess is that the person I got this boat from has replaced just the outer piece and re-skinned becouse the wood came off it like there was no adhesive used. My questing is can I keep this existing peice and sandwhich another peice onto it or do I have to rip out the good one. It has a Chevy 350 engine in it so I need to be sure it is strong. Any help would be appreciated.
