Mounting/drilling fiberglass for bimini mounts

Hello Sailors,
I want to install mounting clips for a bimini top, the manufactorer reccomends drilling a 1/8th hole for the self tapping stainless screws ......
would You do this, or use stainless nuts & bolts & washers ????

If you have access then by all means use a nut and bolt.
