I've been restoring my skiff for almost a year now.
Tear down started on November 26th of 2008.

It could have been done months ago, but I don't have much time to work on it since I'm always busy, the free time I have I usually go fishing.

I just picked up another skiff.
A 1992 Johnsen skiff.
I want to convert that one into a technical poling skiff to fish Flamingo Florida.

Here's a few pics of my Pro Sports skiff:

That is where the skiff stays at right now.
I removed all the molded in non-skid.
I will be using Intergrip from Interlux for the non-skid.
The inside of the hull will be bright white, and the non-skid will be "platinum."

This is the look I'm going for.

I was going to put a poling platform, and a casting platform, but I don't think the boat will perform well in very shallow water.
So I picked up this Johnsen Skiff.
I plan on redoing the whole inside on the Johnsen skiff.
Add a front and rear deck with wide gunwales, and under gunnel rod holders.
A small side console pod with a 30hp Yamaha.

We're also doing up the old Robalo seen in the background of some of the pics.
We already did the inside.
Removed the t-top, center console, opened up the coffin box, cleaned it up and put new foam.
Sanded and removed the molded non-skid.
Painted the whole inside with Awlgrip and did new non-skid.
Put new windshield and seat cushions.

Getting ready to spray the hull sides ice blue, and the transom snow white Awlgrip.

Bright, reflective white inside a boat is easy on the feets but hard on the eyes, especially in your climate.

Holy crap that is extreme pic intensity. I must say you got a good photographer willing to take all those pics of what you're doing and such.

That and the job you doing is looking awesome. Keep it up can't wait to see more.

Strong work! What kind of skiff is that? It reminds me of the older Whaler style, but there were many others with that look. Did you replace the foam?

I love the Johnson for a flats boat. She's a real keeper!

Good luck.

Re: My Skiff Rebuild [Pic Intense]

Thanks guys.

I believe the trihull is a splash of a 60's Whaler.
They look almost identical, just a couple minor changes.
The boat make and model is "Pro-Sports Inc. 1400 SC".
Everything on the hull is new.
New stringers,floor boards, etc.
The rear deck didn't have any wood to support it before, so I added wood under it.

I got rid of the molded in non-skid.
I'm going to use Intergrip from Interlux mixed in with gray paint so the inside will be two toned white and gray.
Specifically to help knock off the reflection off the white so that I won't be blinded with the strong South Florida sun.

I put new two part foam in it as well.

Here are a few more pics I found.

For the compartments, I painted them gray, and I got some polyester resin mixed with webbing solution, black tint, and acetone.
Poured it in a spray gun and webbed it out.
It took me a while to get a hang of it.
The further I held the spray gun, the bigger and more spread out the webbing became, which was the look I wanted.

I can't wait to finish this one so I can get started on the Johnsen skiff.

Hopefully sometime next week it'll be sanded and ready to get the first coat of paint.

Dang looks real good, I like how ur wearing a mask but your buddy is just like "meh"

Why did u put the wood strips around the egdes? Are you going to screw the halves together instead of rivet?

The only wood that was good on the hull when taken apart was the wood border around the joint.
It was jointed together with a bonding agent and stainless pinning screws.

I'm doing the same, but I used 5200 between the two halves.
I will put stainless pinning screws, then stainless screws to hold the rub rail on.

I need to find an affordable rub rail to on there.
I can't believe how expensive rub rails are.

I can get a rigid one for about $100 without the insert.
Another $100 for the stainless insert.

A quick minor update.
The primer is almost all sanded.
It's been hard getting time to work on it with all the work I have at the shop.
But I plan to have the first coat of paint on there by midweek next week.

Loved those plastic "pipe clamps." :)

Something you came up with? If so ingenious.

I sprayed the hull sides on my buddy's Robalo on Friday.

Still have to do the hull bottom and put a rub rail on it and it would be done for now.

I actually saw a lot of folks doing it over on the Bateau forums, so I figured I'd do the same.
They definitely worked out great, and much cheaper than buying plastic clamps.
I spent about 4 bucks on the PVC and broke out the old angle grinder and drop saw for the cuts.
It was a bit tricky at first figuring out which cut to do first but then it was easy rolling from there.
