Enviromentally safe thinner?

Anyone have any luck using these as thinners. I bought paint thinner and spirits to use for clean up and they don't work worth a darn.

Why would it need to be enviromentally "safe".
You're thinning paint, not pouring it into trout streams.
I'm more concerned for my bodily reaction, I became sensitized to thiuram, its used in all manner of rubber production.
Solvents by their nature , I think, are always going to be hazardous.
