I own a basic 14' aluminum fishing boat with 4 bench seats.
I bought 2 plastic seat and steel swivel bases to be installed over 2 bench seats.
The swivel base came with nuts and bolts for installation but the bench seats in my aluminum boat are made of a thin aluminum sheet and fully covered under with styrofoam which make the installation of the nuts almost impossible.
Should i glue the base with 4 metal screws?
Loooking for advise

You could make a plywood cover for the entire bench, seal it up and then mount the entire piece with stainless steel sheet metal screws. Those swival bases put alot of pressure in one spot and that would spread the load.

I did that with a 1/2'' piece of UHMW has held up well in weather 10 yrs or better. The bench clamps are less invasive and allow easier storage of seats..
