Rubbing compound

I bought a 1988 bayliner cobra and it has some oxidation on the metal flake paint. What is a good rubbing compound, polish, wax to restore the shine? Just curious as to what people are using.

I have used the 3m fiberglass restorer and hull polish but now I use 3m fast cut liquid compound.

You are actually polishing the gel coat surface. Take a look at what Mark42 has used http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=60258&highlight=comet

I like the fiberglass restorer too- have not tried the fast cut buffing product.

The Restorer is so easy to use I would try it to see if it does the trick. Sometimes old gelcoats get waxed with car wax which absorbs into the porous surface and turns white, excacergating the problem. I found this out the hard way :-|
