I like how you did that trailer. Nice work.

Re: Baretta Files

JaSla74,

Mind if I ask a few Q's on the Baretta?

I recently acquired a 1987 Super Sport, 16'2". The transom is in similar condition as yours was.

Before you started on your project, did you have any stress cracks in the transom gelcoat, around the key hole, etc.?

Is the fiberglass part of the hull strudy and of good quality?

Did you lake test your Baretta before starting your project?

Do you like the way the Baretta handles and planes?

Thanks.

Re: Baretta Files

There were a few stress cracks in the gelcoat, but nothing concerning. She was very solid & I never had any issues with her other than the deck & transom being gone. Even when I had the deck ripped out there was very little flex.

If I were to add anything it would be trim tabs. She planed out quick after the rebuild, but could get bouncy & required trimming.

I actually sold the boat at the end of last year. I would have kept it, but now that I'm in a salt environment I'd prefer an outboard & something better suited for light offshore use. Overall I have no regrets.

Thanks for the reply JaSla74. And thanks for posting your Baretta project. I have studied the photos and have a good idea of what has to be done. Good thread.
