How to protect the edges & corners of my wooden dash?

1975 Starcraft SS. Last year I tore out the original wood dash/console faces, and repainted them. I've already gotten some chips and dings on the edges and corners. I will "try" to embed photos, but if not, there's a link to the pictures below.

I want to put a sort of molding or protective strip on the edges and corners, and have it look nice and clean. Any suggestions?

Iv'e seen alluminum trim pieces that go around the edges of the dash pieces on some Starcraft boats, but our 1981 SS160 doesn't have them. I was going to try to bend some alluminum channel for mine when I redo the dashes this winter if I get to them.

Resolved: Got some PVC sliding door molding from Lowes. Cost $1.78 for a 10-foot run! Coat of primer & paint. Bam. I'll take it.
