I purchased a 1987 Thundercraft Regency 3.0L with OMC Cobra stern drive. It doesn't have a tilt/trim gage. Several of the lakes and rivers in my area have very shallow areas. How can I tell how high is to high to pull up the drive while I'm not at idle? How shallow can I safely go, on plane with the prop fully down?

You might be able to find an old spec sheet for your boat that will give you draft with prop fully down. However, when on plane, your going to have a smaller draft. But, that would make me super nervous cruising along at 25+mph not knowing if your coming up on a shallow spot... Id rather putt along at max draft, that way if I did hit something, it would cause less damage.. Really, I'd rather just not boat in that area lol.
