I have a bunch of trim panels I'v been cutting out from plywood for the bowrider area
Im going to wrap them in vinyl but before I do that should i seal the wood with anything ?
The fronts will be protected with the vinyl but the back of the trim panels will be screwed against fiberglass but i'm sure they will get wet

I think at minimum you would want a marine varnish or urethane on all sides first, water has a way of finding any non protected surface.

I use system three penetrating epoxy, but woodonglass has a recipe he uses that is most likely cheaper. I would for sure do something with it.

I use the WOG Old Timers wood sealer on my plywood backers, all sides. I then paint the backs since the front is covered by vinyl. Old Timers is 2 quarts mineral spirits, 1 quart boiled linseed oil, and 1 quart spar urethane, (make sure you get the oil based type). Mix together and apply until it puddles paying special attention to the edges. wipe off excess, let dry and topcoat wood that is exposed to the elements. I really like this sealer.

Hope this helps.

I think Lexan is much easier to cut out and work with. It also seem to hold up better.

I haven't done much on the boat because I need to get it back on the trailer
so I've spent the last month getting that ready
painted it today with tractor paint so hopefully next week it will be back on the trailer and back to the boat!!!!
what should I prime my new deck with?
I'm going to paint it with non slip total boat paint (I got it for free)
of would texture deck paint from home depot be better?
