Well, final assembly is underway. I have a few more things to finish up but this is pretty much my new shallow water/ocean bait-dropping fishing rig. This has been one of the funniest boat projects I have had. My future upgrades will be building a small "teardrop" style camper onto the front of the trailer of this boat. An all in one package for short or long fishing trips.

Design change update. I installed my bow mount trolling motor on the boat this afternoon. This was installed with a push button on-off switch mounted to the deck just behind the battery box.

This button allows me to engage the motor with my foot only.

The reason for this change is I realized how complicated it was going to be dropping the motor and climbing to the back of the boat.

Also, the bow mount will give me more control and allow me to focus on fishing instead of driving.

Total cost will vary on design and setup. I have about $800 in mine without motor.

Life has gotten in the way and I haven't posted in a while. My skiff is finished and has been on a few fishing trips. I found the white deck was just too dirty so I repainted it blue to match the bow. The fish finder was mounted to the battery box and an adjustable arm mount was used to put the transducer on the bow of the boat.

I designed a top for the boat that uses mounts on the console. PVC pipe with EMT inserts keeps the frame strong. I'll post pics later since I don't have any on my phone.

If you would like to see a test run click the link below. After this test, the 6 hp Johnson received a new impeller, I found the fuel pump was leaking, coil power wires were around the plug wires, choke was staying about 1/4 open when closed and one spark plug was barely firing.

Snowman this is such a cool project ! For whatever reason I have not checked it out until now ... It looks pretty stable even going over the waves in the video at an angle .. This boat would be perfect for all the salt marsh and creeks down here in Fl ..

It's a very, very stable boat. I stand and cast 90% of the time. I'll be in Galveston in about 3 weeks doing some more bay fishing I'll have the go pro mounted to get better video also. Thanks for checking it out.

Nice nice but what happens when you get waves from another boat? does deck get swamped ? not that it matters except for having a dry box?

Good deal ! Looks like it fits the bill ! Is there a kill switch on the motor ? I could see myself getting tossed .. :lol:

Yes the deck will take on water but it runs directly off the back on each side of the transom. It has happened numerous times with no issues.

Yes, the motor has a kill switch lanyard but I don't use it. The boat is stable enough that I don't worry about it.
