NOOB here, recently purchased a 16' 1978 Starcraft Tristar and of course it has a soggy transom. Is there a practical way to replace or patch the transom? I need to do a patch until I grow a pair and split her down and re wood everything. Thanks

Patched carp is still carp. Read up. No patching, only repairing and restoring

The transom is THE most important piece of structure on most any boat. All the torque from the engine/drive transfers through the transom, down to the stringers/hull. Patching is not an option. Wish I could tell ya a better way, but replacement is the only way to go.

Thanks for the input. You all are correct. I just replaced a transom in my aluminum 16' fishing boat. Came out beautifully was amazed at the performance enhancement. Study time, thanks again!
