If a boat's exterior is metallic color on the bottom is that metal covered with a clear finish or is it just bare aluminum?

It would depend on the make and model of the boat, and if at some point a prior owner applied something. Normally on a bare aluminum hull there is no clear coating when new, but anything is possible.
