Hello, I am a new member with a recent boat restoration project. And I was curious what way is the best way to cut the fiberglass from the floor to replace the plywood decking. I also need to check the transom, and read some posts on drilling holes in it but not sure where the best spot to drill is located.

Hello Devan,:welcome:

Is this an inboard or outbound? I assume a fiberglass boat.

Would like some boat porn , please attach pic of boat :pop2: :spy:.

I normally use either a Grinder with flapwheel, cut off wheel, sanding disk, SawSaz, or a Circular Saw set at least desk height.

If you would want some excellent video's a fellow iboater by the name of Friscoboater did some on a 1995 Sea Ray 220 Signature Deck and Stringer Restoration ( http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat...nature-deck-and-stringer-restoration-splashed ).

Remember to drill on inside of transom, mark drill bit with tape about 1 to 1.25 inch. A normal transom is about 2.0 inches thick, "normally" mine was 1.75 inches inside to outside. Drill down around drain plug, and as close to mounting holes. If all is golden fill with 3M 5200, if dark and yucky   you'll know what will needs to be done.

Others more knowledgeable should be showing up.

Good luck, Fair Winds and Following Seas

Watch out if cutting near hull, but don't worry it can still be repaired if you cut thru. One iboater cut his boat in half  and lengthened it.
