Mitchell 15' Skiff floor & transom repair

Got this project for free off CL. 15 foot Mitchell, trailer (modded jet ski trailer), 50 Tohatsu (runs but needs trim motor repaired and impeller replaced ......it was neglected. Found floor for and wet transom....feel free to give advice...

Ahhh... geez got it! Multiple posts oh well...

Anyway, I found rot around the transom drain hole. I was hopeful it wasn't bad but it is. I really only want to replace half the transom, not remove cap, about 1.5' from bottom, don't know if that is wise or not.

well, rot is too much, it is a whole transom rebuild....

Just dont cut off the exterior fiberglass transom skin.

I'm trying to save all elements of transom, like light holder, cap, outer skin....I hated to cut live wells but had to.

Holy Hell....Transom is out !!!! The transom was only about a 1/3 rotted, so it didn't come out easy. I have so far broken a jig saw, gone thru several cutting disks, lots of cuts and splinters......hope all this work is worth it.

Looks to me like you've got more cutting/grinding to do in order to get the new transom in. Have you tested the stringers?

First Layer of 23/32 plywood.....fitting. I slipped the first layer in, second layer will need more old glass cut to fit! I'm happy with the fit. Plan to use the PL Premiem method....."West Systems" screw that noise.

Sooo exactly how do you plan on fabricating and installing the new transom??

Attaching the the 2 layer transom with PL Premium to the skin. I'll then glass the transom. Like this....sort of.

Why PL instead of PB??
