I would worry those would get extremely hot on a sunny day and that you would burn yourself getting into the boat.

You've got a point there Skater, might have to cover them with either vinyl or carpet.

Burn yourself when soaking wet coming out of the water?

I know you have the swim ladder just sitting there but when you put it on for real, the platform should be about even with the waterline if not under a ways otherwise it's too high and will be tough for anyone except a lanky teen ager to get up on it. I would think the lake water should cool the AL down just fine.

Here's a look at mine on the Chief when sitting in the water.

Wish I had read your post Rob before I installed it,I'm pretty sure I have it to high, I don't think it will be me climbing up the back of the boat however if it's absolutely to high I have a telescoping ladder I can replace from the single step I have on it now.

I know that I wouldn't be able to get up on it, when you have to raise your knee chest high when in the water there's no leverage with one leg and putting both on the step with your hands grabbing the rails is for a gymnast. So for me to hoist my 250+ Lbs up onto the platform it just isn't going to happen. I need to get a telescoping ladder for my platform too as it's tough even for the admiral to get up onto mine. I normally beach if I go swimming and don't use it. If need be in an emergency the motors LU and ODs are a great ladder a guy can climb up on.

Got the controls connected and the starboard side panels installed just test fitting the seats, going to have to cut the bases down by 3-4 inches, lots of wiring left to do that's my sons area of expertise may be this weekend hopefully.

Looking god Bud, I did have to snicker at the one pic that looks like the drivers console puked up a hair ball of wire.

Just taking a few days off the boat, had a few things to do to my motor home, oil and lube, changed the thermostat, was overheating on really hot days last year, hope the new thermostat solves the problem, also un winterized it and washed it, the roof was a pain but got it fairly clean, so it should be ready to roll.

Hey you're back at it! looks like you're in the fun stage of trailer work  it's even worse I bet with a boat sitting on it. As many of these boats as you work on, you should have an empty work trailer on stand by so you can swap the boats off the one you're going to fix up.

Yes a second trailer would be nice, but I think I'll take Glens suggestion and unload the boat on some old tires, I might just take it in and get it sand blasted, would save a lot of work, I can get it blasted for about 125.00 I'm thinking that will save me quite a few hours of intensive labour.

$125. is a very good price for blasting the trailer, I wouldn't twice about that..

Got some new Wise jump seats, were on sale for 49.00 each at our Princess Auto, and I had a coupon for 15.00 so got them for 85.00 for the set Cdn, saw them online for 119.00 each so I think I got a pretty good deal.
