starboard side will never be perfect (distortion in upper), neither port (w/o distortion).
But but but.... mating call for buttholes lol. I'm not a body man and don't really care, BUT, the bottom edge on the wood - how should I get that smooth so it doesn't look so bad after painting?

painfully block sand? lol (note: back few feet aren't sanded yet)

Glass Guy did pass on one trick I didn't think of. It's actually kinda stupid, but I'm just no glasser or painter. DIP THE ROLLER IN THE RESIN duh.... Was amazed at what I could do; even overhead. Been dry rolling all this time, adding resin with brush.

You can get some glass bubbles to mix with your resin to make a fairing compound or get some already made ... 3m Premium Marine filler works great but kinda pricey ... There are a lot of fillers out there that use a lot of talc .. You want to avoid talc if possible ...

another thing you can use is diatamatious earth its dirt cheap and can mix it in to create thicker resin plus easy as hell to sand

OK, but I was looking a volunteer!! I hate this aspect; whatever I do will be noticeable. But then, everything on my boat is somewhat noticeable - in it's entirety, it has been pieced together. Glass Guy had said that it's only cosmetic, that it isn't structural. But that's where we differ some; he would have left it with little to nothing on the bottom. It's an extension of the gunwale and needs to be tied in.

Once again, I'm really impressed with how solid things are getting

I agree at this point, it's only cosmetic and something "I" will rarely look at - and not looking to impress anyone. That being the case, think I'll finish sanding, put the cap back on, etc etc etc etc........ lol and let her fly. What month is it now

at this point, seems like all I can do is peck at it!! Wait a minute, some would say that's all I've been doing

http://

about the time I get it all outside, another thunder bumper develops. Did manage to glass the end two pieces for the gunwales. Probably one more layer over the outsides for fit to upper deck - two pieces laying on transom need final shaping before glass etc. Am waiting until all of that's finished before finishing the gunwales.

Have not decided on "how good" I want that to look; rather, how much work I feel like doing
That's what it all boils down to..... This project has taking longer and taken more than I ever thought; which really is a good thing and is largely because of the way I do things

PS: those Firestones still have good tread, but are at least 20yo and the sidewalls don't look good up close.

just saying.... I don't use the side garage because the roof's in very bad shape. Would've already done that, but...... it's all about timing and the other worms in Life. In younger years - even 3yrs ago - but ya never know what's coming. Grandpa always said, "do it while ya can" - he was talking about fishing!! lol

Even steel floats but you have so much weight added to that in all the glass work I'm beginning to wonder? :)

Just pulling your leg. You should be seeing the reason for doing all that work shortly. I'm glad it wasn't me. That seems to be right up there with painting in the list of favorites to me. Actually I should have said down there to be more accurate.

Keep up the good work. Looks like the end may be in sight.

yeah, I too, have wondered about all the resin this go round... Physically with wood, there really isn't any more weight than what there was in structure; but everything is glassed more thoroughly - better.
To give y'all an idea of what I'm saying - this is the plug I cut out in the bottom of sump box to install the transducer. And it's this thick all the way around

flimsy is not in my vocabulary lol

Speaking of being done.... After I'd glassed the first 38" of gunwale, starboard side, Glass Guy came by that evening. Says, "if it were me, I would have glassed that whole run"
It didn't hit me until the next day, had other things on my mind........... Months ago, he had said he would do both sides for me
My reasons for only doing one strip were to see how it would turn out and it was late in the day.
I don't really care, but don't we all know people that do just the same!!! lol

figured I'd post just to let it be known I'm still alive and kicking. Not much progress to show, the heat/humidity and a six foot tall pile of limbs I pruned (top right, doubt you can make out?)
http://

with all the rain, everything's overgrown!
Those pieces to be glassed over and sanded down on the back lip of transom. It's a pain to cut small wood w/o table saw. Square cut where they mate to transom for a nice groove filled with eight 1/2" strips of 1.5. Should hold lol, cap only rests on 'em. Corners to be built up still

JR . when you poured the seacast did you tuck the glass down in the top of the transom like it showed on their instructions ? If not I would recommend that you lay some glass over and down the outside edges of the transom ...
I gave up on trying to tuck the pieces of glass on mine ... It was a huge pita ..

to focus on that, pardon the rerun lol
I stuffed it in as suggested by Seacast, but not really satisfied with it at this point
http://

it was lumpy because it WAS difficult to work - pita for sure!! lol
I knocked some of it down before capping again. 3 layers of 24oz tabbed 1.5" down on the inner skin - and tied in directly to glass on outer, which is at least 5/16 thick

HOPEFULLY, gonna wrap those last pieces today? Just for giggles, might tab 'em outside the jackplate? Got bolt holes to glass over and splashwell hole; and need pop a new hole for it as well

Every time I need a small piece "right now" and try to tear it lol

Anybody have "Ant issues"? Little rascals crawling everywhere - they aren't doing anything, not carrying food or supplies  I just see herds of 'em every now and again....

deep al, Fire Ants everywhere but not in the boat. These guys are tiny and probably/maybe looking food? I dunno......
I'm not as far away from washing her down as I was; and that may take care of extra passengers. lol
Think it's the resin they're attracted to? Flying insects are always a prob when laying up glass.

Y'all got any of them red gnats? Them suckers love deet!!! hahahaaaa JK

Glass Guy brought me this fan; and although I promised myself to never "junk up" my boat with nonessential items - like a sound system and lights that rival a concert (to each their own). I don't mind sweating, but I need air moving across my skin to cool because of the meds I'm on.

Just not certain where or how to mount it? And needs to be easily removed, ideas?
Yet, I still have lots to do first....... lol
