I broke the bow eye on my Aluminum Tracker boat. What can I use to replace it and not face electrolysis?

What was the bow eye you broke made of? Steel or stainless?

Electrolysis or galvanic corrosion (dissimilar metals)?

are you bolting in salt water or fresh? is the old eye welded on, or bolted on?

if welded on, have another welded on. (hint, your local radiator shop tig welds aluminum all day, can probably repair for about $50)

If it is a 2 stud style you could replace it with a Stainless U bolt. Otherwise replace it with what you had. Many options for sale here and online.

I'm no expert, but if you're not boating in salt water, I suggest a stainless steel through-bolt design as 64osby also suggested. The bow eye is above water level which reduces the conductive path for a complete circuit needed for significant corrosion. If the original broke, you need something stronger such as stainless with a substantial backing plate inside. I'd also suggest a bedding material between the eye and the hull, not for isolation, but to keep any splashed water from being trapped and acidifying. - Grandad
