Im replacing an old fuel gauge sender unit. It is a float on a lever arm, it goes into a fuel tank and is fixed to the tank by 5 screws. The gasket and installation hardware are included in the replacement kit. However, im not sure if i should use some sealant and if yes, what kind.

Your choice as to using a sealant. However the gasket should provide the proper seal.

If you do use a sealant, Perma-Tex makes a fuel proof sealant. So, do some research or ask at your loacal automotive supply. Many sealants are not fuel proof and would cause problems.

Used the gasket without sealant, goes just fine, no leaks and no fuel smell. Will see how well does it work when I take the boat to the lake. Thx
