Well I got the hull ground and cleaned up. Couple hours of cleaning and grinding and it's now a clean slate.

I have to say it resembles a "Miss Unlimited" hydroplane. I actually built an R/C model of one and it was a blast running it. I have to tag along with this. :thumb:

Yea things are coming along nicely so far. We have some very unseasonably warm weather happening, so I'm making a lot more progress than I expected to. Hoping to have the foam, transom and seat mounts in this weekend. All that will be left is to glass it all in.

The cold finally came and brought snow so nothing new on the hull so far.

But I did start on the power plant.

Yea I restored all but the main harness so far. I expected at much Its lots of it was pretty badly degraded but its not that hard to fix, just time consuming so I put on some TV and plug away at it. The motor is gonna be nearly new when I'm done so no point in leaving it half assed. Considering the wiring was exposed to 30 years of water, heat, fuel/oil etc You really cant expect it not to need some work.

The upside is that when we opened up the block, the internals are mint, looks like it was rebuilt only a working few hours ago and then left to sit for years. There is lots of old fuel in it but the bearings etc are all like glass. Gonna order up some boyesen reeds today.

Funny, my buddy who is helping build the boat and I were talking about that last night. This thing has the potential to be just silly. If all goes well the motor should be good for a few more ponies add a racing prop and it should be really fast... I'm both excited and afraid. heheh

I'm curious about the boysen reeds. I've read a number of places that the factory ones are hard to beat.

I ended up going with CCMS. This rig with likely overrev alot so the stainless are a no go on this motor.

Wiring continues. Opened the control box and the harness looks good inside.
