Hello, I recently purchased a 1987 Bayliner with a 85 horse Force and I would like to winterize the motor for the winter. Can you please help with any suggestions on everything I need to do to it? Also I would like to buy a power tilt/trim for this boat since it doesn't have one. Can you suggest a website/outfit that would sell a complete set up? Thank you for your help. This is a great forum.
Welcome to the Force club romanms.First, use the "search" feature at the top of the page and search for "winterize". Tons of posts here that cover the procedure in detail.Second, go to bottom of this page and click on 'manuals". Order one. Lots of info and photos in there. You will be glad you have it.As for the tilt/trim unit. You will have to search the numerous parts and accessories on the web, or go through a local dealer. From what I've found you can expect to pay about $500 plus installation, if needed. MinnKota even makes one, but I don't know if it will fit on your motor.Winterizing in brief:Fill and stabilize your fuel.De-carbon your engine.Fog your engine.Change oil in lower unit.Clean everything.Grease everything.Make sure all water is out of engine.I change plugs in spring after I burn out the fogging oil and and de-carb again.Remove prop and grease prop shaft, replace prop.Remove batteries, store it above 50 degrees, charge them up every 2 to 3 weeks. If you do the search, you will get detailed instructions.
