Default water pump question on 1987 force 50

How can I tell if the water pump is working on my 1987 force 50 hp? Where does the water spray out?

There should be a spray coming out of the exhaust. Check out the add a tell tail thread. If the water pump has not been change in a long time it would not be a bad idea to replace it.

Does a 1987 force 50 not spray out a stream from the back hole like other outboards?

I acquired a 1987 50hp model# 507X7B, have not fired it up yet but it does have a round hole in the back just like a spray stream hole, is this just for show?

There should be like a good mist coming out of that hole. These engines never had a tell tail like other models/makes. A tell tail can be installed cheap.
