Last thing I have to figure out is why the throttle won't return all the way to idle unless I do it at the motor by hand. The mercury cables have a hole where it connects to the throttle post, the stud that actualy holds the cable in place, not the throttle lever. The hole in the barrel on the throttle cable is a little bigger than the stud it sets on and it has a notch on each side like maybe something set on the stud that fits tighter onto the cable barrel? Anyone have any ideas?
Not sure what you asked, but where the cable attaches to the fixed fixture (stud) there should be a sleeve that slides over the stud after it's inserted into the hole (imaginations running amok) to hold it in place. The cable housing end should have a groove in it that a raised protrusion on the cable clamp should fit into
Thanks for the replies, I ordered mercury part #23-819452 it takes 4 of these to do the throttle and shift. That should be all I need I hope then I'm back to fishing, now where did I put that banjo?
