    Default Tach Question

I have an 85 h.p. 1984 force motor that I will be installing a tach on. never had one on it before but it has the purple tach wire factory installed and taped off under the dash. my question is on the rectifier the purple tach wire is on the same barb as the red battery wire and on some of the other posts i have read it should be with the green/yellow wire to function properly? is it only on the red wire because it doesnt actually have a tach installed right now? if it does need to be with the green/yellow wire which one? i have two that go to different posts on the rectifier. BTW i made sure to get a 20 pole tach so should have any probs there.

Tach wire should be attached to one of the Green/Yellow wires. If it doesn't act right, try the other Green/Yellow wire. Not sure why, but sometimes it make a difference.
