hi guys , I FINISHED REBUILDING MY CARBS, NEW FUEL PUMP , NEW IMPELLER , THANKS TO ALL OF THE INFO/ TIPS ON THIS SITE AND ALSO ON MY REPAIR MANUAL, DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TIGHT THE PROPELLER NUT NEEDS TO BE (TORQUE SPEC.) I DO NOT WANT TO GET IT TOO TIGHT OR TOO LOOSE. THANKS IN ADVANCE
1987 85 HP MODEL 856X7A
My little hand book that came with my 1984, 85 hp said to tighten the nut so there is no more play fore and aft. I thighten mine just a bit past that.
My nut is a nylock type that goes on hard, as designed. Your engine since it is an 87 might be different. I am not sure.
Hope this helps.

Just checked mercruiserparts dot com and the part number is the same on both engines.

IMO, Put the engine in neutral, Grab a prop blade with a glove, or hand protector, and tighten it with a wrench till just before it begins to slip from your grip. Then it will be just the right tightness to remove it in the future also.
I Found The Propeller Torque Spec. On My Repair Book , It Is ***55 Lbs*** For My 1987 85 Hp Force (propeller Nut Is A Self-locking Nut) Thanks Everybody
