Default Propeller Nut changed from plastic to steel

1972 Chrysler 35HP’s Propeller Nut changed from plastic to steel. The lower unit's plastic nut has been in the sun the last 25 years. I’ll feel safer and enjoyed machining the Magnesium Nut from another part. The other parts are Aluminum and Galvanized.

Magnesium is more reactive than aluminum and you may be setting yourself up for corrosion problems. Aluminum would be the better choice of metals.

Thanks! I'll get a stainless nut or observe a few months (in this hot North, TX weather and water). Do you know if that plastic is Teflon or what?? That Mag and machining was tempting Fun.

Plastic was probably either Nylon or Delrin
