Default Force 70hp - Cloudy White Exhaust Water?

I have a 1991 Force 70. I just bought it and had it tuned up, had new seals put in the lower unit, and ran it on the hose. I noticed the exhaust water was cloudy white.....is this normal? I've never seen that before. I figured either it's because that's normal and I just never recognized it before, the gas is old and should be replaced with fresh stuff, or that is not normal and it needs attention. But I have noticed the motor runs very strong. Another problem I have noticed is that since I had the new seals (and water pump) done in the lower unit, there seems to be a small amount of oil-like sludge coming out from where the back of the prop meets the lower unit housing. It is not gear lube, it is like black oil, with a smell to. My mechanic said it's just run-off from the exhaust system and I shouldn't worry about it......you guys are the experts, SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT THAT OR THE WHITE CLOUDY EXHAUST WATER?? If you can, please e-mail me in addition to just responding, I plan on taking the boat out today for my maiden voyage! My e-mail is RadioguyJ@aol.com. RadioguyJ@aol.com

My 1990 90Hp Force had cloudy white exhaust water too. Two days later, it blew a ring and had so much piston slop its amazing it ran at all. Coincidence? I hope for your sake it is. My 'New' 92 90HP Force does not do this and runs much much better.

My "95 70hp has been like this since I bought it in "97.The black oily residue is just that. You should probably do a decarb on the engine and clean it out. This will remove the carbon buildup from the rings and prevent them from sticking.A spray decarb solvent product is needed. Buy at least 2 cans of decarb. Some people use one can per cylinder.Run engine at fast idle, with engine runningspray liberal amount into each carb, spray some more, spray a larger amount into carbs until engine chokes out and stops, remove spark plugs and spray decarb into each cylinder, install the spark plugs, let it soak for 1 to 12 hours. Start the engine and run at medium throttle, or if at the lake, run it at full throttle. It won't hurt to spray some more through the carbs. Run it for atleast 10 minutes to flush the crud out of your engine. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just got back from a run on the lake. The engine was running good for awhile, I did notice a somewhat slight knocking sound but I'm sure it was just the motor cover or something, and it was only at 3/4 throttle or higher?????????After 25 minutes of running the boat at various throttle and speeds, the engine quit on me. I tried to turn it over and it would turn over and run really weak, then die again. When I would shift it into gear it would just die out. Neeedless to say my wife and paddled our way back, not an easytask in an 18' runabout with cheap Walmart paddles and a 25+ mph wind, but we made it. The gas in the tank was in it when I bought the boat last fall, and there's no telling how old it is. IS it possible that I just have some bad gasoline??? I can't figure out why else it would stall, unless the motor seized up but if that happened it wouldn't turn over at all, right??? HELP!!!!

Pull the spark plugs and have a look a them. Does one look really clean? If so, water is getting in the cylinder somehow(Head Gasket??). Let us know what you find. Run a compression check also.

Hopefully your problems are not the same as mine, but that's what my 90 HP did as well. I could get it to idle very roughly, and I managed to get it in gear and basically idle back into the ramp. After that, I pulled the head, and my problem was obvious. Good luck!
