Default Force 150 tach- where to get one?

My buddy has a 150 Force motor with a 20 pole stator. He needs a new tach and he said all he could find was one from the dealer for 200 bucks. Does anyone know of a cheaper place to find one? All he asks is that it is black and fits in a 3 1/4 hole.

At this point, he needs to take what he can get.

All the manufacturers have stopped making 20 pole tachs in the last couple years.

There are some on ebay, occasionally.

    Better grab this one fast.

Here's another one. If your buddy's motor has the Prestolite ignition system (Blue Coils) then it has a 20 pole stator. If it has the Thunderbolt ignition system (Black Coils w/switch box) then is has a 12 pole stator The beauty of this tach is this it will work with either 12 or 20 pole stators.

Thanks guys. I figured they were getting hard to get by my searching for him. I even looked at the GLS website and I didn't see that tach on there pwnboat. I guess I didnt look at them all. I was looking for a black one for him. They have an oversize one on there for 39.99, but it won't fit in his dash. I told him to cut it bigger, but there is a recess and it would not work out he says. I guess he will have to get the white one, or fork out some more dough for the one on ebay. Either way its better than 200 bucks. Thanks again!

Check out this thread. I just did this on my force 120 20 pole. You just install this frequency divider and it opens it up so you can have pretty much any tach you want that offers a 5p setting. No longer will we be held hostage by ugly 20 pole Tach's. I have plenty of pictures if you have any questions.

I'm selling a 20-pole tach off of my 1986 Force 125hp right now on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/US-Ma...ssoriesQ5fGear

Although it needs a 4-1/4" cutout, so it is a little bigger than what he's looking for. Here's a pic.GEDC0772.JPG

I read the part about blue coils vs black coils, but I have black coils and prestolite and plan to get a tach, how can I be sure what tach I will need?
