Default 1988 Force 125 water pump

I just purchased a pontoon boat that has a 1988 125 hp, where is the water supposed to come out of this engine, it's different from my yamaha engine where the water comes out from the side. I ran it the other day in a barrell the other day and i don't think the water pump is working. any help would be appreciated.

Some water will splatter out the exhaust relief holes on the back of the motor, the rest comes out with the exhaust.

Best to change it so you know it is good.

If you have it submerged it should have a pretty strong stream coming out of the 2 holes half way up the lower unit. If you have it on muffs, you don't see very much come out those holes but more comes out around the prop through that exhaust

Basically there is no Tell-Tail like you Yammy. There should be a Spray at the two holes under the cowl on the rear. The spray oly happens when at the lake however. On the hose it usually dribbles out.

I found that a garbage bag or two hung under the motor with the exhause outdside the bag works well.

HOWEVER>>>> The exhaust will mel the bag and the water will disapear rather rapidly!<<<<<<<<<<<<

But it works better than the hose. Just watch the bag.

If you happen to get the engine in gear shut it down immediatly as the bag will shread in an instant.

Thanks for the info, one more thing. I changed the water pump which the one i took out looked good, my questions is when i dropped the engine foot down, the copper looking pipe that carries the water from the pump to the engine is just kind of dangaling around (loose) is that normal, i can pull it up and down and move it from side to side, please help.
