Hey,
I just bought a boat which has a 1987 force outboard engine. and i have some problems. 1st. i cand find the place that i check the oil. 2nd. i putted on reverse and it started makeing a bad noise. 3rd. i how much is the normal commpressions. enyone plz help. thank you
There is a hex-head screw on the bottom of the drive. That drains the oil.To check there are two screws about 18-24 inches up the leg. They are marked fill/vent. Pull the bottom and see what your oil looks like.
If it's making a bad noise you probably need a rebuild.
The compression on a good guage should be 145-150. They should read 5-10# difference on all 3 cylinders. Any more and that means you need to work on that motor.Jerry
You really need to get a manual...and DO NOT take out that Phillips head screw on the side of the gearcase.
I suggust putting down all tools until you get a manual..
