check the o rings in the cylinders first.....easier...... that is I take the trim still goes up and down just leaks down......stock o rings from local auto supply fixed mine....about 3 dollar fix for both cylinders

hey Herb, you have a system with a pump, trim cylinder, tilt cylinder and a shock absorber. There are two versions of these motors. The trim and tilt cylinders are serviceable. The valve body is not but may be replaced as a entire unit..There are two ways to troubleshoot the problem you have. One is the tilt cylinder leak down test and the other is the valve body leak down test. First you need to purchase a 3/16 inch inverted flare female connector with one end plugger and a 3/16 inch inverted flare male plug. (local hardware $2) TILT TEST... tilt the gear case to the full upright position. Support the gearcase with an appropriate block, then relive some pressure by tilting down a little. (Always be careful these are very heavy motors -- think safety first) Remove the line from the pump assembly that connects to the bottom of the tilt cylinder. Plug that line with with the 3?16 inch female plug. There will be some residual pressure so use a rag over the line when loosening the connector. Remove the block supporting the case. Mark with a pencil some referenc point to look at later to see if there is leakdown. Wait several hours to make sure there is no leak down. If there is repair the tilt cylinder. VALVE BODY TEST...Lower the motor to full trim in. remove the lower trim cylinder line from the valve body and plug the line with the 3/16 inch female plug. Also plug the lower trim port in the valve body. tilt the motor to full up and mark with a pencil for gauging any drop. If drop occurs replace valve body if not and tilt cylinder tested alright repair the trim cylinder. good luck

Thanks,Crazyray and Dcsjr.I hope it's the o-rings,that valve seems like it could be expensive. Thanks,Joe

The valve body can be repaired. The problem in the valve body is the seal on the pilot valve pn 829719. the pilot valve is behind the snap ring, 2 of them 1 up 1 down.
