Hey guys i'm new to posting to the forum but have used you many times on a Evinrude 9.9 to trouble shoot.
So heres what i have
1986 Force 85 on a bayliner serial 856X6m
I'm prettysure my major prob. is the fuel pump, reason be is it won't start w/out starting fluid and I replaced the bulb but it never builds up pressure in the bulb and if you take out the air intake and pump the bulb it eventually squirts out the lower carb. So my question is do they sell a rebuild kit for them or do you have to pick out parts from a catalog? If they do sell a kit from where?
b. someone tell me why not to use starting fluid, i see a guy said against it but couldn't catch up to why
c. whats the easist method to sync the carbs on this as well
'You never want to use starting fluid on a two stroke especially not a premix non injected motor because the starting fluid acts like a detergent on the cylinder wall lubrication essentially running your motor without oil!!!!
If you need to give it a little squirt to get it started put some premixed gas oil in a oil can and squirt it in the carbs with the throttle butterfly wide open. I like to mix this a little richer like 40:1 but if you dont want to mix new just put a lil from your tank in and use that..........
