Default 1986 75hp Force stalls in slow gear

Ok I am new to this so here it goes? Last summer I purchased a 17 ft Maxum with a 75 hp Force. Motor starts fine and runs fine idle to full power with muffs. In the lake will start fine every time, but when I put it in gear in the no wake zone it stalls and dies. If I do this enough times and get past the no wake zone I can start it up and it will run like a champ at full throttle. But when I bring the boat to slow down it stalls. I have had the carbs cleaned, compression checked, and it ideals at around 800 rpm. Could this be a prop problem? I have also been told that I may need to get it re-jetted because I am at a high altitude?

    Thanks

Sounds fuel related. Have you done a link and sink on the carbs yet.
At the start of the forum page there is a sticky which has a link and sink by FrankA.
When its idling at 800rpms is it in the water or out and with muffs??
Check the fuel filter and fuel pump diaphragm and replace if needed.
Verify good spark on all cylinders, and if you don't mind what was the comp. #s.

    Bentle,

Thanks for your response the compression on all three cylinders was 110. We have performed the link and sink and think that has helped allot. Got it out on the lake and it is starting to do better. But now I am only getting 3500 rmp at full throttle. I may just keep it this way due to it not dyeing when at a slow idle.

    Thanks again for your help!

Well you really need yo get the full rpms so the motor is burning the fuel efficiently.
check the tie bar if any to make sure carbs are opening simultaneously all the way open and closed.
May also want to verify that the timing is set correctly as well.
When you perform the link and sink its best to check the timing for proper time advance.
