Does anyone have suggestions or tips for changing out the water pump impeller on an 1986 Force 125 hp (Chrysler type) engine. Are there any pitfalls I should know how to avoid? Were can I get a new pump kit online? I can see there are a couple bolts on the bottom of the cavitation plate, is that all there are, and what about the shift linkage is that tricky at all. Any help is appreciated. HArley
Fishboy100,Dont know Force pumps so cant be much help.BUT! Dont attempt any repair without a manual. They are at the bottom of the pageamazon.com,NAPA auto parts or the library. It will save you time, agravation and money! If you look around there are a number of places for parts.Try Fairwinds Marina at:www.fairwindsmarina.com Also NAPA auto parts has Impellers listed.their number 18-3559. Good luck.
Steelspike, Know what you mean about getting a manual, but they don't give the neat little short cut tips or other "real world" incites. Such as reference special tools, they never say what is a fair substitute. Or substitue parts end of story. Also they can leave out info about wear or how to repair things. Its all replace, replace etc. I know from hard won experience that real people info is better than the books. That said I have a book so shoot me! (grin) Thanks for the info on the NAPA parts. I changed the waterpump on my 87 125 Force with just the manual in hand. I had no prior experience on boat motors. Took about 4 hours the first time because I read every step as I performed the task, next time probably could cut 2 hours off. Didn't really have any shortcuts. Extra person would be helpfull( did mine alone). good luck Duffer
