I have no tire removal tooling, nor do I want to dispose of them whole. Anybody cut tires off a wheel? And I want to dice them up and put out with the trash. Can I do this with simple tools? Hand tools? Knife? I have a standard jigsaw, no sawzall. Good plan? Totally stupid?

I've been using Ring Central for my fax line for a few months and have experienced a few problems. I noticed today that there was no connection so started to do some troubleshooting. I could get into the softphone softward but no live info. Finally called customer support and we had to change the port and reset the internet access settings for that particular site.

I'm contemplating changing my business voice line to VOIP as well but a little leery after my recent experience with VOIP as my fax line. Faxes are becoming rare so the occasional hiccup isn't too disruptive. but having those outages with a voice line is unacceptable.

Anyone else have any experiences or problems to share before I take the leap?

What's you guys using? How you like it?

I figured a conventional camera (or even a iPhone) could do the job. But then a new toy is always welcome. :)

I'm seeking help from members familiar with the type of dock I have:

Last fall I bought a cottage that came with this dock & old but working boat. The dock was hastily disassembled for winter storage & now I want to put it back in place. I know how everything goes together but I'm not clear on the best procedure to assemble it. My cottage is 200 miles away and other obligations have kept me away--including this holiday weekend--so I won't have the benefit of watching my neighbors install their docks like I had hoped.

Each 8 or 10-foot dock section is made up of 2 rails that the 2x6 PT decking is bolted to. Each rail sits in 4-hole brackets attached to a crossmember between each pair of aluminum poles, so each "H" support is shared by 2 dock sections. The poles have sand augers on the bottom that screw into the lake bed.

The poles can't be screwed into the lake bed unless the crossmember clamps are loose so it looks to me like there are only 2 ways to put it together:
(A) Drive in ALL the "H" supports & then drop each dock section into place in the brackets. This requires great precision in getting the supports the right distance apart & in line. Strings, levels, lasers, long straight 2x4's....etc. probably required.
(B) Drive in the 1st support assembly to approximate depth, secure one end of the first dock section to it & raise the crossmember into position under an existing wooden stairway hanging over the water. Let the other end of the dock section sink in the water. Raise that end up & attach to the next "H" & level with the first end. Continue adding supports & dock sections to end.

So for the experienced dock assemblers: Do I have these choices correct and which works best? Is there yet another method? Any tips to make it go smoother?

Also--each dock section is very heavy and I don't think my wife is up to the task of lifting her end. Any tips on how to muscle them around? Right now they're stacked in the yard near the steps & the "H" supports are in the shed...waiting for me :)

I hope this is the right topic area to post this in.

I am interested in building a weather buoy. I have an old plastic one piece pool filter tank to use for the buoy, aluminum tubing for the mast. What I want to have on it is instruments for wind speed and direction, barometer, air temperature, pretty much a basic weather station.

There isn't any problem powering one, a compact AGM battery that fits into the access hole on the top of the tank and a small solar panel to charge it.
But the problem is having access to the data, the only available link is a 3G or 4G unit since it will be out on the lake for me and anyone to access it's data before going to the lake or on their phone while on the lake.

I plan to link it to WeatherBug and several other weather apps.

I can do everything on it except the wireless link part, because I have no idea if there is a unit that I can use for this.

Is there any decent free software available to wipe the data off a hard drive before I sell or give away the computer?

It's been sitting unused for over 2 years now and I have all the data off it I want. I got a new one because I had what I was told was a power supply problem, and two trips to a computer repair shop didn't fix it. The computer just started shutting down at random times, with no warning. I decided I didn't want to put any more money into it, now it's just taking up space.

Two different times on two different Win 7 laptops, the volume Icon has disappeared from the task bar. Even though these computers are about 2 years apart, they have both had all the Microsoft updates.

Fortunately, with a Google of the subject, I found a YouTube that took you thru the REGEDIT directory and the Task Manager to remedy and restore the icon. The YouTube video made it easy. If you had to follow written instructions it would have been a lot more difficult.

Point is, where is their head. What are their priorities that they cannot even make a volume icon stay put???

Hi,

I'm in the process of preparing my boat for it's 1st season in a marina since I took ownership.
For peace of mind, I would like to install some sort of low voltage alarm that would send me an SMS message if the battery voltage drops below a certain point (so I can get to it before the batteries are so flat they can't operate the automatic bilge pump)

Is there such a device on the market?

I could probably design/build something based on an Arduino board, but I'd rather have a tried and tested system.
